Introduction and Overview

The Daresbury Science & Innovation Campus (Daresbury SIC) has been home to the world-renowned Daresbury Laboratory for over 40 years. Now, with the addition of the Cockcroft Institute and the Daresbury Innovation Centre and an influx of national and international high-tech companies, it is rapidly developing its reputation for both scientific and entrepreneurial excellence.

Formed as part of a government initiative to maximise the effects of public investment on business-science collaborations, the campus is the shared vision of six key stakeholders, including the regional development agency and local universities.

There are now over 80 companies based in the Daresbury Innovation Centre and approximately 550 staff at the Daresbury Laboratory, supporting the work of thousands of scientists and engineers around the world.
