Daresbury Laboratory

Operating since 1962, Daresbury Laboratory - now part of the Science & Technology Facilities Council (STFC) - is one of Europe's largest multidisciplinary research organisations supporting scientists and engineers world-wide.

Daresbury Laboratory has a staff of 550 who support the work of over 5,000 scientists and engineers, mainly from the university research community, with collaborations with industrial and commercial partners becoming increasingly commonplace.  The laboratory is responsible for several large-scale facilities and has expertise in such fields as: synchrotron light exploitation; accelerator science; advanced instrumentation; advanced engineering; high performance computing; nuclear physics and modelling and simulation.
